Alila Living: Cooling Cucumber Eye Serum

Familiar dengan adegan orang bersantai ria dengan bath rope di spa, dengan wajah ditutup masker dan mata ditutup irisan ketimun? Atau malah anda sendiri pernah melakoni adegan tersebut? Sesi facial seringkali melibatkan irisan ketimun di bagian mata untuk menenangkan area mata and reduce puffiness. And yes, cucumber punya efek anti-inflammantory untuk mengurangi puffiness alias kantong mata karena cucumber ini kandungan airnya cukup tinggi. Ketika ketimun didinginkan di fridge dan ditaruh di bagian mata, maka kandungan air di dalam cucumber ini mampu mengurangi aliran darah di seputar area mata sehingga kulit sekitar mata jadi lebih soft dan kantong mata berkurang.

Karena berbagai alasan, kita tidak sempat atau mungkin juga seperti saya, malas, untuk melakukan ritual cucumber itu di rumah. But I was so happy when I found eye serum dengan manfaat cucumber di Alila Living boutique. Saya membawa serta produk ini ketika traveling ke Bangkok dan as usual, setelah paling tidak 2 minggu penggunaan secara rutin, baru saya bisa cerita tentang produk ini.

Meskipun ketimun cukup popular dipakai di facial and spa, tapi so far bagi saya, menemukan eye treatment dengan cucumber engga gampang.  So what I love most from this product is definitely its ingredients with cucumber. Second thing I love is the bottle dengan pipet yang memudahkan saya mengambil produk ini secara higenis. Begitu saya buka botolnya, aroma herbalnya segera tercium. Eye serum ini tekturnya watery berwarna kekuningan yang sangat cepat terserap oleh kulit tanpa meninggalkan kesan lengket. Kesan setelah mengaplikasikan Cooling Cucumber Eye Serum yang light  ini sudah pasti rasa adem di sekitar mata. Dua tetes eye serum cukup untuk diaplikasikan ke seluruh kedua area mata. Meskipun di kemasannya disebutkan to use the product before bed, saya pakai eye serum ini sehari dua kali. Hasil setelah pemakaian teratur? Well, first, ketika saya di Bangkok, saya lack of sleep tapi produk ini efektif membantu mengurangi penampakan kantong mata. Eye serum dari Alila Living ini juga mengurangi garis halus di sekitar mata dan hydrates the skin. I can see the difference! Love it!

 

Drawback:

Teksturnya yang super watery bikin kita harus hati-hati ketika mengoleskan eye serum ini di sekitar mata. I had one experience ketika the product got into my eyes.

Alila Living: Rejuvenating Rose Facial Toner

Have you ever received a banquet of roses from your other half?

I didn’t have any favor to any flower until I received one rose per week from my husband back in 2007. I started to appreciate flower – ah, especially rose. Rose is known as the language of love – people usually express their love using red roses. Red roses represent the meaning of desire and passion, while the pink one symbolizes grace and gentility. But roses are not just beautiful aesthetic appeal, they have practical functions to our health and skin too.

Rose is a famous ingredient in skin care products. There are many different skin care products using rose as their main ingredient, from cleanser, toner to serum and moisturizer – you may also find different brands using rose, from Burt’s Bee, Jurlique to local brands such as Mustika Ratu and Martha Tilaar.  One of the rose skin care product that I wanna share this time is the one from Alila Living. It’s the rose toner and made exclusively by Sensatia Botanicals for Alila.

I’m using this rose toner in conjunction with the vanilla cleanser, pure c serum and Indian fig cream (link). I spray this toner to my face and neck after cleanse my skin and I don’t wipe it. I just wait till it dries before applying serum and moisturizer. This serum smells heavenly rose!! I can feel the instant effect of using this toner: my skin is fresh and hydrated. This toner in glass bottle with pump is non oily, non greasy but it creates kind of layer of moisturizer on your skin. If you love the scent of rose and you have normal to dry skin, this toner is for you. This toner can be used as facial spray – so I can bring this to my office and when I travel. 

Drawback: nope!!

Alila Living: Pure C Facial Serum

The benefits of vitamin C in maintaining the health of our skin has already well-known.  Vitamin C  - known as ascorbic acid is a great antioxidant  that prevent skin damage from free radicals as well as ultraviolet radiation. Vitamin C also helps our body to produce collagen and to repair the wound and damaged skin tissue. No wonder we can see many different skin care products containing vitamin C!!

One of products of Alila Living that I currently use is Pure C Facial Serum. I guess this serum is exclusively made by Sensatia Botanicals for Alila as I can’t find this product listed in Sensatia Botanicals website (link).  Ok, lemme share my experience using this product.

Benefit: Stimulating and replenishing facial serum, powered by nature

Detail:

I use this vitamin C serum twice a day after cleanse my skin. After using this serum, I apply Indian Fig Finishing Cream (link to previous article).  This watery and non greasy serum easily sinks into my skin. I have tried different skin care products with vitamin C before but this one is different. It works wonderfully on my skin. This serum gives significant improvement to my skin. My skin looks brighter, glowing and more vibrant. I’m happy to see that my dark spots on my face somewhat fading.  This vitamin C serum in pipette glass bottle smells a little bit like tamarind – acidic. In short, I love the way it works!!! I would definitely buy again!!!

Alila Living: Indian Fig Finishing Cream

Last October I visited Bali and eventually managed to buy Alila Living products in Alila resort at Ubud. (link  Alila Ubud website).  One of the products I bought is Indian Fig Finishing Cream – it’s a day and night cream. I thought this product is made by using Indian fig as the main ingredient (note: Indian fig is a species of cactus with edible fruit. The medical and cosmetics uses of Indian fig are very well-known).  When I read the ingredients carefully, I don’t really understand whether this product is using Indian fig or not.  Anyway, I have been using this product for more than 2 weeks and it’s time for me to share my experience:

Benefit: Daily nourishing cream powered by nature

Detail:

I use this nut-brownie cream day and night after applying Pure C serum from Alila Living. When I open the jar, I immediately smell the herbal scent. The herbal scent is kinda powerful and it lingers quite long. If you like herbal scent, this would not be a problem. This light cream provides heavy and rich coverage – uhm…how to explain..this cream is light, I can feel it on my fingers, but when I apply it on my face, this cream is a bit difficult to spread evenly, but it sinks quickly into my skin. What I love most from this cream is that it works wonderfully on my skin. I wake up with fresh and glow skin. My skin is nourished and soft. This cream, packed in an elegant black container and box, helps to reduce the appearance of my acne scars. Love it!!

Drawback:

• Yes I have to say, even to my dry skin, this cream makes my face looks  a bit oily. I use BB cream and loose powder to cover-up oily effect of this cream and they work!!

• I just do expect that in the future there will be an indicator of shelf life on the packaging.

Alila Living: Vanilla Praline Facial Cleanser

What’s in your mind about “vanilla”?

Me? I’m thinking of ice cream (and many different mouth watery desserts)

Anyway, I bought Vanilla Praline Facial Cleanser at Alila Spa and then I learnt the benefits of vanilla to skin. Vanilla is not a monopoly ingredient for food industry. Vanilla has been widely used in pharmaceuticals industry as it has a great antioxidant, anti-depressant, anti-carcinogenic and aphrodisiac properties. Vanilla in skin care products could help to restore damaged skin as well as to prevent skin from pollutants and toxins. As it has sedative property, vanilla is relaxing – read: vanilla calms brain, relaxes muscles, and promotes sleep. Amazing!

After using the vanilla cleanser from Alila Living for more than 2 weeks, so I think it’s safe now to share my experience:

Benefit: Irresistible and smooth creamy cleanser, powered by nature

Detail:

I use this vanilla cleanser twice a day, in conjunction with other Alila Living products – Pure C Serum and Indian Fig Finishing cream (link). I just love this cleanser as it’s creamy but not heavy and thick. It contains kind of moisturizer so that this cleanser doesn’t dry my face. It smells like a combination of vanilla and tamarind – sweet sour kind of thing. My husband doesn’t like the smell but it doesn’t bother me as this cleanser makes my skin looks soft and healthier. It also makes my skin tone more even. The elegant black glass bottle with pump makes it easy to dispense. Be careful if you want to bring this cleanser for traveling. Mine was spilled over my luggage on my way back to Jakarta from Bali and left me two third of the bottle.

One important thing: As this cleanser is exclusively made by Sensatia Botanicals for Alila, this product is only available in Alila Living store in all Alila Hotel, Resort and Spa.
